| CREATIVE BACKGROUND
|
My biggest passion is performing arts, and it always has been. I learned to operate my fathers stereo system at the same time I learned to walk. Everyone in my town knows me as the Ipod-Girl, because I never leave home without my ipod and always walk into a store with my headphones still attached. Its nearly impossible for me to enjoy a walk even around the block without my Ipod. Music is probably something I would want to have a career in over anything else and one of my biggest inspirations is Michael Jackson in music because of his theatrical music videos and shows. If I ever land in that spot one day, Im hoping my filmmaking skills Im using now will help me make my own music videos in theatrics as well.
When I was a kid, I formed this illness and was put on medications at a young age. But not only was that hard enough, my childhood was stripped of all creative forms of school work that could help me in the future in art such as AV Club, Drama Club, or Newspaper. I could use all these materials towards an interest in artistic value. But I wasn't allowed to because of after school medical appointments constantly as well as having to attend much more education-courses during school hours. Not only didnt I have the time or room to take these extracurricular courses, but I was "ineligible" to do so too. But outside of it I got to take dance which took out much frustration over much of everything, but I still wanted to join a club so badly.
Once I lost my father, I searched for happiness and just took it as is. But I hoped for it every day. When I met Bill Hader shortly after, I fell in love with his work and wanted to create something for him to help promote it. I started up a website which he very much appreciated and even made many contributions to. His support really motivated me even further over time, and even though I did it merely because I was in such love with Bill Hader's work it really allowed me to work on my creativity that Ive missed out on for a while. Sometimes I see it as a little unofficial, unpaid, personal internship - I got to learn so much about the backgrounds of comedy - I actually learned about UCB through him when he told me stories of performing at IO before landing on Saturday Night Live. The whole thing was an honor to do, an honor to receive and I was so appreciative of him being so supportive and allowing this creative outlet for me. After 3 years of quitting performing (in which I quit before I was to perform a couple shows fathers day weekend but dad died), I jumped back in with the inspiration of Bill and his costars.
Ive had this long dream of being on Saturday Night Live since I was a kid. But I think in recent years its changed. Sometimes I feel Im a bit unbalanced or unhealthy to jump into something like that show. But I still love being around it, and Ive decided though that Id love to have a direction in music and filmmaking like someone like Michael Jackson. I've been through a lot of downs recently and have written so much that Ive been aiming to do something in music but also make my own short films associated with each song I wrote. The 2009 KmcaulleyTV project is a creative outlet Im focusing on right now to sharpen my filmmaking skills and to document those who've left marks on fans in the way that I have gotten to know them. They say you should do your first song, or article for a paper, or movie on something you know - something you've experienced. So Ive been calling in those awesome people I know at UCB and SNL to help me out and document their work since Ive been hanging around the SNL perimeters since I was 13 years old.
